File list on SourceForge

In an effort to better communicate and display the files offered for download from the SF site we are planning to move MinGW files to a MinGW folder and MSYS files to a MSYS folder. The work is planned for the weekend of May 29th, 2010. If anyone is on the SF site viewing the list of files at the time they will be impacted by a new view when the page refreshes.

Re: File list on SourceForge

I am sorry if this sounds like a complaint. I had developed a script to install the packages that I need, my script is broken given the new directory structure :(. I have about 50 packages that I download and install with my script. This script is part of a larger project that I maintain (4buntu). I tried fixing the script, but ran into a few problems. I can't find the new location of many the packages. Is there an index or map that can help me find the new location for the individual packages? Right now I have been manually navigating the directory structure on the Sourceforge download page, but this is tedious an inaccurate. I am also being impacted for the Sourceforge issue with Runtime package.

@jrvela: Doesn't Keith's response to Lars answer what you need to do? Also note that we're not completed with changing the directory structure. We're in discussion at the moment the subject of classifications for directory names that indicate what the directories contain. So you are more than likely going to be required to change your script again.

In reply to the comment of 2nd June, by lars, (which apparently does not exist for the purpose of posting a reply, even though I can see it quite clearly; I've no idea what is going on there -- another Drupal bug I suppose; perhaps Earnie will investigate it)...

The non-visibility of files within the MinGW/BaseSystem hierarchy is the result of concurrent maintenance work by SourceForge themselves; they broke it, so we'll just have to rely on them to fix it. Until their https://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/sourceforge/ticket/11420 issue is resolved, we must consider https://sourceforge.net/projects/mingw/files to be unusable as a download site; please use the Downloads link to the right as an alternative, (it points to our region of SourceForge's beta -- yet seemingly more reliable than their so-called stable variant -- https://sourceforge.net/downloads/mingw download site).

Uh, no, the administrator needed to go to the comment approval queue and publish the comment.

Re: File list on SourceForge

It seems to me that this new view has led to a temporary unavailability of MinGW files - I can not see any files when I try to get them from MinGW -> BaseSystem.

Is this being looked into?

Re: File list on SourceForge

Work has begun toward making this happen. You will see a new look in the list of files that will tend to be more helpful. If you have suggestions then please use the mingw-users mail list to communicate them.
